How long would you last in a Zombie Apocolypse?
Victoria got 1.5-2 years (End of Zombies).
You survied this long living on only on what you had horded the first few days after the initial outbreak while the Zombies had eaten everything on the planet and eventually starved themselves to death. You. Are. A. True. HERO.

...it would take longer than 2 years to outlast the zombie plague.

You can't discount good logic when considering the zombie apocalypse!
Demski
yes i can...it depends on which style we are going by. If we are going by the Solanum zombies...the shufflers, the very first argument is discounted by the fact that all animals are made nervous by the aura of the virus, and the flesh itself is poisonous to animals
Demski
ergo, ravenous creatures cant attack

I would like to point you to page 10 of the Zombie Survival guide which states that zombies decompose at a slower rate than normal corpses due to the nature of Solanum stating that they can last up to 5 years in a normal environment.

As much as I like the cracked article to refute your logic that is entirely dependent on the fictional virus (which I would like to point out would not leave them zombiefied, but more of a leper/LSD cannibal hybrid), for entertainment purposes:

Although honestly, unless it was spread through the food supply extremely rapidly, I can honestly assume that the government would simply pinpoint the origin and then nuke the hell out of it before anyone had the opportunity to spread the disease through biting.... And seriously? Normal environment? Assuming the solanum virus managed to reach pandemic levels, why dont the survivors just all book tickets to the high desert or the frigid north and wait for them all to starve to death... refute that logic.
Demski
On the government, think about it, as well meaning as they are or mean to be, they have more realistic things to worry about. Like terrorists, and other more understandable threats. They're not going to stop and implement procedures for "zombies". And if they do, it will be on a small scale, very hush hush style. If one thinks of the government as an all encompassing/omniscient entity, they one is wrong. They do the best with what they have, but ultimately they too are human and will overlook things.
On the virus reaching pandemic levels...If it does reach that level, think about how society will be. Major collapse in economy, social structure and everything else. You honestly think that everyone will form orderly like to book flights to Northern Canada? First off, there are 300 million people in the United States...I doubt that the airlines could handle the population of a major city such as Chicago, let alone the whole country. And that is assuming the airlines are in service. With a collapse in society, nothing would be working as it should be...People would be flocking to "safe havens" like lemmings. No order, and riots, as well as people taking advantage of the situation.
Take a look at what happened with Hurricane Katrina...that was nothing compared to what a Class 4 outbreak would be.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt and saying that everyone can make it up North, or to a desert...Try surviving in that environment for 5 years. Without outside help. One would have to live off the land continuously. Combine this with the multitudes of people going to the same place, the land will be hunted and scavenged to the point that nothing will be left. After that point what do you think will happen? Infighting, riots, at its worst possibly cannibalism. Those that do survive will be in no condition to flourish after the outbreak has been cleaned up.
Yeah, any other questions?

^^^thank you! And seriously, with zombie awareness at an all time high, there is no reason that a minor outbreak would not be considered a viable threat to the health and security of the nation for no other reason than securing the youth vote up in Washington. There is a reason that there are people surviving; they are prepared! Now if the outbreak occurred ten years ago when there were none of those nifty survival guides floating around, I would be more worried.
Demski
But are they prepared? Or are they simply reading the books and assuming they will know what to do. Are you ready to go right now if the undead were found pounding on your door? Is your B.O.B set up? Your escape plan? Could you survive for a month in your home with no water or electricity? There is a difference between awareness and preparedness.
And don't assume that simply because its a minor outbreak that it will be taken care of quick and clean. The government has more pressing and realistic issues to deal with than what they consider fictional zombies and securing the youth vote. The 18-24 age bracket is one of the lowest rating brackets when it comes to voting. The government and politicians are more concerned with the brackets who actually vote, namely senior citizens.
Means
Who will not be able to run away: hence congress will lose the majority of its voting bracket if it does nothing...
Demski
It doesn't matter if they'll lose their primary voters, during an epidemic, society will be gone, voting will be gone, command structure will be gone. Congress isn't going to enact zombie prevention merely to please young and impulsive voters...especially if they have bigger problems, which I believe I went over before in a earlier post. Politicians primary concern is to please the seniors who vote for them. It doesn't matter that they won't escape the undead because as far as they're concerned, the undead plague will not happen.
Means
Wow, I think you and I have officially given this way too much thought... I believe we have reached a point where we should just agree to disagree...
Demski
lol, this is where we part ways then. Carry on fellow zombie debater, I wish you luck in your future theorizing.
